ABOUT FMF:
FMF has been operating in Yemen for since 2012 during even the most dangerous
peak of the conflict in the region. Our staff of dedicated professionals and
passionate volunteers are the helping hand that delivers aid from local and/or
international partners to those who require it the most, in a country that was
already suffering before the war. Today we have helped humanitarian aid reach
the hands of more than 9 million vulnerable people in Yemen to help them not
only to survive but also to rebuild their lives. We aim to provide a
comprehensive approach to providing aid through interventions, which is why we
work in almost all sectors of international emergency relief.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Protection Assistant supervises the Psychologist, CP and GBV social
workers, in addition to the protection monitors and provides technical guidance
with close guidance and support from the FMF Protection team leader. S/He
ensures the quality of case files (case management audits on a weekly basis),
protection monitoring and supervises referrals (internal and external).
POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure
the overall qualitative and timely implementation and report of the
protection activities in area of responsibility.
- Lead
and supervise Protection Monitors, Psychologists, and Social Workers to
implement protection assessments and protection monitoring activities.
- With
the guidance of Protection Team Leader, undertake training and coaching on
the job for the mobile protection teams on various protection-related
topics.
- With
direct guidance from Project Manager and Data Management staff, provide
capacity building on the use of smart data collection tools to staff.
- Ensure
regular internal meetings with all filed staff in order to organize and
plan activities, listen to staff feedback, inform them of ongoing
activities or changes, and track project indicators.
- Attend
any coordination meetings at AoR's level, and share minutes of meetings
with Project Manager and Protection Team Leader.
- Closely
coordinate with local authorities to assure smooth implementation of
activities.
- Follow
HR procedures for all field staff, provide training to staff on procedures
and their role to attain full understanding of the project activities and objectives,
and ensure timely submission of documentation to HR and leave management.
- Share
monthly/weekly movement plans or missions, and coordinate the field teams'
movements on the ground and ensure cost effective use of available
resources.
- Ensure
smooth communication and coordination with local authorities and community
leaders and other humanitarian actors on the ground.
- Provide
ongoing oversight, leadership, and guidance to the staff teams to ensure
that the projects meet high-quality and best practice standards and
prioritize the safety and security of beneficiaries and staff.
- Strengthen
and ensure communication among the protection field team, ensuring that
there is an overall link between the different project components.
- Perform
any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- A high
school or any other relevant subject or any related field.
- 2
years of experience working with NGOs, particularly in the protection
sector.
- Experience
in supervising field staff in challenging situations, carrying out
professional team management, and providing capacity-building and
training.
- Strong
experience working in protection in a humanitarian/recovery, complex and
volatile contexts.
- Strong
understanding of humanitarian principles and protection guidelines, and
familiarity with case management principles, standards and procedures.
- Experience
in mainstreaming protection concepts within a humanitarian operation.
- Strong
organization, collaboration, representation and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated
leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge
of the area of responsibility and understanding of local communities and
customary rules.
- Excellent
observation, analytical and report writing skills.
- Prior
experience in working and/or coordinating with other humanitarian
organizations.
- Native
Arabic and strong English skills are essential.
- Strong
knowledge and skills of computer and prior experience working with smart
data collection tools such as KOBO.
- Readiness
to commit and adhere to the values, mission and vision of FMF.
- Be
available for regular trainings provided by FMF and support in identifying
staff training needs.
- Respect
confidentiality of data and information.
- Attention
to details and ability to communicate professionally and effectively -
practical and problem-solver.
- Able
to ensure quality delivery in stressful environment, punctuality and
respect for rules and procedures, and to adhere to deadlines.
- Ability
to deal with heavy work pressure.
- Documented
results related to the position’s responsibilities.
