Médecins Sans Frontières - France is looking for Yemeni nationals to recruit in
Aden for the following position:
MICRO - LABORATORY MANAGER
Location: Aden.
Contract duration: 6 Months.
Contract type: Full time contract.
Report to (Hierarchical): Project Medical Referent.
Reports to (Functional): Project Medical Referent.
MAIN PURPOSE:
Defining, implementing and monitoring the micro-laboratory
activities in Al Ghomorhia MoH hospital in Aden according to MSF protocols in
order to ensure the quality of the micro-laboratory work
KEY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participating
in the definition and implementation of microbiology laboratory activities
in Al Gomaourhia hospital.
- Train
the MoH staff on how to perform microbiological tests.
- Performing
quality control tests and analysis, ensuring compliance with the basic
plans of the microbio-laboratory and that all tests are done correctly and
according to prescriptions
- Ensuring
that the hygiene and safety protocols both for individual as well as for
collective protection (i.e. required clothes and equipment, hygiene and
universal precautions, etc.) are implemented in the microbio laboratory
and that the cleaning personnel is informed about biohazards.
- Ensuring
proper registration and records of all microlab related activities, in
order to have proper records of microbio-laboratory activities. Preparing
and sending slides/samples for external quality control
- Ensuring
confidentiality of all patients’ laboratory results at any time, according
to protocols in place
- In
coordination with the MoH biomedical service with MSF log team support,
supervising the appropriate use of medical devices under his/her
responsibility so they can be used at any time (e.g. correct automatic
instrument calibrations and correct and updated inventories of laboratory
material and equipment). Anticipating and communicating future needs.
- Compiling,
analyzing and reporting on microlab activities and results to the medical
staff, including the PMR.
- Participating
in the development of epidemiological reports relating to microbiology
- Monitor
the consumption/utilization of microlab materials, promote rational use
and generate and communicate the microlab needs to the PMR, medical
coordination and technical referents.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in medical
laboratory sciences.
Experience
- At
least 2 years’ managerial experience in microbiology lab.
- Previous
working experience with MSF in supervisory position in microbiology lap is
preferred.
- Proven
experience of capacity building to microbiology laboratory technicians is
an asset.
- Experience
with microbiology data management is an asset.
Languages: Fluent English and Arabic, both
written and spoken.
Technical Knowledge: Essential computer literacy
(word, excel and internet)
