About our Country Program/ Regional Programs
RI in the Middle East has programs in seven countries -
Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Türkiye, Yemen, and now OPT with a focus on the 4
main RI sectors: WASH, Health and Nutrition, Education and Livelihoods. Relief
International has been providing humanitarian aid in Yemen since 2010, offering
various services like health, nutrition, water, sanitation, livelihoods, and
protection across the country. They focus on helping vulnerable people,
including internally displaced persons, returnees, and host communities. RI
also provides reproductive health, protection, and gender-based violence
responses in specific areas.
2. Job Profile
The Health and Nutrition Officer is responsible for
supporting the implementation of project activities in health and nutrition in
the governorate they are assigned in. The Health and Nutrition Officer will
oversee the provision of quality health and nutrition activities in supported
HFs and at the community levels through close monitoring of HFs and CHVs. The
H&N Officer closely coordinates with all stakeholders and beneficiaries in
the targeted governorates and ensure the appropriate implementation of project
activities in the field. She/he will be involved in training,
supervising, and assisting community health and nutrition field staff to ensure
the best possible nutrition and health services are delivered to targeted
beneficiaries. She/he will work in constant collaboration with RI Project
Coordinator Health and Nutrition, local authorities and community members in
order to share nutrition/health issues so as to improve/promote the
nutrition/health of the vulnerable groups from the targeted communities.
3. Key responsibilities
- In
collaboration with the project coordinator to plan and implement health
activities, ensuring that the health and nutrition programs utilize
standardized protocols, policies and guidelines as outlined by the
Ministry of Public Health and Population
- In close
collaboration with the health facility in-charge ensure daily delivery of
health services at the supported health facilities.
- Coordinate
with project coordinator and RI supply chain teams to ensure that all
medical supplies and pharmaceuticals are supplied to HFs on timely
manner.
- Ensure
effective supply chain management, supporting proper stock inventory and
storage systems at supported health facilities
- Monitor
the distribution of medical supplies including pharmaceutical and
coordinating with MoPHP pharmaceutical assistants to develop and report
the monthly consumption.
- Ensure
daily/weekly drug consumption is tracked and reported timely
- Support
and ensure rational drug dispensing at supported health facilities.
- Collaborate
with RI MEAL team in collecting and responding to beneficiary’s feedback.
- Conduct
daily visits to the supported health facilities and outreach teams to
monitor the progress of the project activities and report any deviation to
the supervisors.
- Participate
in implementation of RI quality benchmarks including conducting quarterly
quality assessments.
- Participate
in quarterly data audit and reflection and work with health facility
in-charges to improve data quality and use data for decision-making.
- Coordinate
with the HF data entry officer and facility in-charges for timely
submission of the monthly HF reports.
- Plan
and implement quarterly RI-local authorities’ joint supervision and ensure
reporting, development and execution of the health facility-based action
plans.
- Coordinate
with the MoPHP CHVs supervisors for implementation of community-based
activities such as CHVs programs and community midwifery.
- Support
CHVs to collect and track community health data
- Coordinate
with district surveillance officers to ensure disease surveillance and
rapid response activities are implemented in RI supported areas.
- Supervise
and support ICCM activities implemented by CHVs
- Supervise
health and nutrition activities in the supported communities and
awareness-raising activities particularly on health, nutrition and hygiene
practices.
- Ensure
all nutrition activities are implemented in integration with health
activities a in accordance with MoPHP and nutrition cluster
guidelines/protocol
- Ensure
that the nutrition program have the required nutrition commodities and
supplies
- In
collaboration with MoPHP, organize training for HF staff and
community-based workers, mobile teams including providing on-the-job
support for both Health and Nutrition staffs
- Perform
other relevant duties as assigned by the Direct Supervisor.
4. Person Specification
- Bachelor’s
degree in Medicine, Nursing, Public health or other related fields
- Minimum
3 years of previous experience in Health and Nutrition programming with
NGOs.
- Working
knowledge of English and ability to write good quality reports.
- Excellent
interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated,
results-driven and excellent sense of organization.
- Strong
team management skills and ability to relate to and effectively motivate
staff.
- Ability
to do the capacity building of CHVs, CHWs.
- Flexible,
adaptable, able to improvise and work in stressful environment.
- Proficiency
in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular).
