Job Title: Communications & MEAL Officer – CIVIC Yemen Program

Our mission is to support affected communities in their quest for protection and to strengthen the capacity of armed actors to prevent and respond to civilian harm.

Purpose of the Role

Provide support in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEAL) and Communications for CIVIC’s Yemen Program. This includes developing frameworks and tools, tracking results, and amplifying the voices of civilians through media and advocacy.

Location: Aden, Yemen (with travel across Yemen as required)

Key Responsibilities

1. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEAL)

  • Lead data collection efforts (baseline studies, gender analysis, surveys).
  • Prepare quarterly monitoring reports and synthesize program-level data.
  • Contribute to the development of MEAL frameworks, indicators, and data collection plans.
  • Train staff on MEAL concepts, tools, and processes.
  • Oversee external evaluations (mid-term and final).
  • Ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and security of program databases.
  • Produce clear reports on project progress and outcomes.

2. Communications & Media

  • Draft press releases, op-eds, blog posts, and social media content.
  • Collect success stories and human-interest narratives from the field, supported by photos and videos.
  • Maintain a database of program-related multimedia content.
  • Develop and manage Arabic-language website and social media platforms.
  • Produce brochures, leaflets, and other outreach materials.
  • Contribute communications inputs to monthly and quarterly program reports.

3. Gender Integration

  • Ensure gender perspectives are integrated into MEAL and communications activities.
  • Provide programmatic and technical support on gender-related initiatives.
  • Act as the focal point with HQ on gender topics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with professional qualifications in MEAL.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quantitative and qualitative research (surveys, focus groups).
  • Fluency in both Arabic and English.
  • Strong writing, editing, and content development skills.
  • Experience in database management and data analysis (Excel or similar tools).
  • Ability to produce multimedia content (photography, video).
  • Awareness and sensitivity to gender issues.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
