General Description of the Position:

Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Child Protection (CP) Assistant is responsible for the field-level implementation of CP activities under the multi sector project Marib 2026. This includes overseeing the daily operations of the Child-Friendly Space (CFS) in an IDP site, supporting the established of Community-based Protection Committees (CPC), and ensuring that vulnerable children and caregivers have access to life saving PSS and specialized referral services. Also, providing support to CP Social workers, PSS facilitators and ensuring the efficient utilization of resources. while working in close and collaboration with SIF’s team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Objective 1: Technical Implementation of CP & PSS Activities:

  • Supervise the daily operational running costs and activities of the SIF Child-Friendly Space (CFS) in IDP site.
  • Supervise the CP Social workers and PSS facilitators and provide on job training and technical support.
  • Work with social workers to ensure that CP case management standards are adhered to, and when appropriate, provide direct CP case management and PSS.

  • Facilitate monthly awareness sessions for caregivers and parents on children’s rights, protection
  • risks, and family well-being.
  • Organize and monitor weekly structured Psychosocial Support (PSS) and recreational sessions for at least 200 children (boys and girls).
  • Support the Program Manager in identifying and benchmarking local NGO partners for CFS co- management.
  • Ensure the CFS is a safe, inclusive, and adequately resourced environment for children of all abilities.

Objective 2: Community-Based Protection & Referrals:

  • Lead the establishment and training of one Community-based Protection Committee (CPC) to strengthen local protection mechanisms.
  • Identify children and adults facing protection concerns and ensure timely referral to specialized services (health, legal, or specialized PSS).
  • Assist in managing the Specialized Support Fund for critical child protection cases and emergency GBV/conflict-victim needs.
  • Maintain and update the protection service mapping in Marib in coordination with the Protection AoR.

Objective 3: Monitoring, Accountability, and Learning

  • Track attendance and participation in CFS activities, ensuring the target of 60% session attendance is met.
  • Conduct regular field monitoring to ensure "Do No Harm" principles and SIF Child Safeguarding policies are strictly followed.
  • Document success stories and "lessons learned" regarding the impact of PSS and referral interventions.
  • Ensure the SIF Complaint and Response Mechanism (CRM) is accessible to children and caregivers at the CFS site.

Objective 4: Coordination & Reporting

  • Represent SIF in local-level coordination meetings with the Child Protection Sub-Cluster (AoR) and other protection actors in Marib.
  • Prepare high-quality weekly and monthly progress reports, including data on reached beneficiaries and successfully closed referral cases.
  • Liaise with the Executive Unit (ExU) for IDPs and MoSAL at the field level to ensure smooth project access and coordination.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Child Protection or PSS programming in humanitarian settings (Marib experience preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of Case Management, Referral Pathways, and Child-Friendly Space (CFS) methodologies.
  • Soft Skills: Proven ability to communicate effectively with children and displaced communities.
  • Language: Native Arabic; ability working in English (for reporting).
  • Tools: Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel) and mobile data collection tools (Kobo).

View as an asset:

  • Experience in conducting surveys and evaluations or external consultant.
  • Computer software skills.
