Médecins Sans Frontières Belgium in Yemen mission is looking
for Yemeni nationals to recruit for the NURSING TEAM SUPERVISOR position.
Location: PHCCs and outreach activities in Aden
and Lahj governorates
Contract duration: Six (6) months, with the possibility of
extension
Contract type: Fixed-Term contract
Reporting to: Nurse Activity Manager
Main Purpose:
Plan, organize, and evaluate the activities concerning
nursing and the team associated, according to MSF values, policies and
protocols and universal health standards, in order to warrant the quality and
continuity of the health care and the development of the plan of action.
Accountabilities:
- Carry
out the functions and tasks associated to nursing i.e. perform as a nurse
or anesthetist, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the
resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience.
- Implement
all the protocols and hygiene procedures and supervise his/her team follow
the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and
service in his/her specialty.
- Organize
and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual
leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure
the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the
hu-man resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
- Carry
out and/or supervise the (decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment
management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions,
inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs
consumption, etc.) in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs
of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensuring
that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained. Ensuring
that cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the
protocols. Reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
- Carry-out
and/or coordinate administrative (exit-paper, transfer-paper, etc.),
information and data collection (patient files, forms, statistics, etc.)
tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and
reliable information about the day-to-day activity in the project, output/
outcome and support decision-taking.
- Give
feedback/ reports to medical focal point.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities:
- Supervise
nursing activities and ensuring effective organization of primary health
services and quality of care across the supported facilities.
- Provide
ongoing technical supervision and capacity building to MSF/non-MSF nursing
staff, identifying training needs.
- Monitor
and ensure the correct implementation of MSF and national clinical
protocols, guidelines, and infection prevention and control standards,
taking corrective action when gaps are identified.
- Support
continuous quality improvement initiatives and respond to fluctuations in
patient load or emergency situations as needed.
- Provide
coverage for nursing gaps when required and act as the focal point in the
absence of the NAM.
- Contribute
to initial and ongoing health facilities assessment, identifying needs and
gaps in services, staffing, IPC, patient flow, etc.
- Collaborate
closely with the medical team (MDs, pharmacy, mental health, midwifery,
health promotion and data) to ensure integrated service delivery,
appropriate referrals, rational drug use, and accurate data reporting.
- Contribute
to project medical reporting and data collection by ensuring accurate,
timely, and complete documentation.
- Collaborate
and report to NAM/Logistics and EH team when identify structural damage,
infrastructure issues, and facility needs requiring maintenance or
improvement.
- Networking
and maintain a professional and collaborative relationship with MoH staff
and other relevant health actors operating in the area to support
coordination and continuity of care.
- Identify
and report any security concerns or contextual risks to the Operations/
Medical Coordination team.
- Provide
regular feedback and reporting to NAM/PMR regarding challenges, planning,
gaps, and improvement actions.
- Attend
and participate in MSF medical and project meetings and capacity building
activities.
- Maintain
flexibility to work across all project locations according to operational
needs.
Job requirements
Education: Nurse diploma essential
Experience:
- Essential
2 years of previous experience as a nurse.
- Having
worked in MSF or other NGOs and in developing countries is
desirable.
- Essential
1 year of previous experience as a nurse supervisor.
- Desirable
experience in Primary health centers settings.
Knowledge:
- Fluent
in written and spoken English (at least B2 level)
- Essential
computer literacy
