DRC Yemen’s response

DRC began its operations in Yemen in Aden in 2008, primarily to respond to the needs of migrants in the country. DRC scaled up its response in 2015 in response to the outbreak of conflict and is now one of the largest INGOs working in Yemen. Today, DRC is able to meet the urgent needs of those affected by the conflict across the country through the delivery of fast-paced and high-quality emergency response, alongside longer-term programming.

About the Job:

Overall purpose of the role:

The HR Intern will support the Human Resources Officers in the field (Hajjah Office) in the day-to-day implementation of HR operations, with a particular focus on supporting the casual worker management process. The role contributes to ensuring accurate documentation, timely coordination, and smooth completing of HR activities at the field level.

The HR Intern will assist with recruitment and selection support, maintenance of personnel records, onboarding processes, leave tracking, and responding to routine HR-related inquiries under the supervision of the HR Officer. A key part of the role will involve supporting the administration and tracking of casual worker contracts and related documentation, in close coordination with program and support departments.

The position offers practical hands-on learning opportunities across core HR functions in humanitarian context., including recruitment processes, HR administration, compliance, and staff support. The HR Intern will gain practical experience in applying HR policies, procedures, and systems while contributing to effective and compliant HR service delivery in the field.

 

Main Responsibilities:

·      Support the casual worker management process, including assisting with documentation, tracking contracts, and coordination with relevant departments.

·      Support monitoring, updating, and maintaining staff leave balances.

·      Assist the HR Officer in posting job advertisements, screening CVs, and scheduling interviews.

·      Participate in initial candidate screenings and support interview coordination and logistics.

·      Support ensuring that staff personnel files (physical and electronic) are properly maintained and regularly updated.

·      Assist in maintaining and updating employee records and HR databases, including new hires and contract updates.

·      Support the preparation of on boarding and induction materials and ensure required documentation is completed.

·      Provide support in responding to employee HR-related inquiries.

·      Assist with general HR administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and preparation of HR documents.

·      Support the coordination and logistics of trainings, meetings, and workshops.

 

About you

To be successful in this role, you must have:

·      Previous internship or administrative experience is a plus but not required.

·      Any experience in customer service or office administration will be helpful. Proven experience in managing large budgets.

·      Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication to interact effectively with staff and candidates.

·      Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and maintain accurate records.

·      Attention to Detail: Accuracy in handling employee data, reports, and documentation.

·      Confidentiality: Respect for handling sensitive employee information and maintaining confidentiality.

·      Time Management: Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

·      Proficiency in MS Office: Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

·      Willingness to commit to a minimum period (3-4 months).

Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Languages:

·      Spoken and written English is essential

·      Arabic is an asset

We offer

DRC will offer the successful applicant a contract until June 30th, 2026, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work as soon as possible and be willing and able to work in Hajjah.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment. This position will be placed at Band (NMK) and will be reporting to the Support services manager.
