About
the role
Overall purpose of the
role:
The WASH Filed
assistant ensures that water, sanitation, and hygiene project, activities are
implemented effectively, professionally, and in accordance with the culture and
practices of the local population. The WASH Field assistant will report to the
WASH TL. This position is based Lahj.
Main
responsibilities:
- Follow up and monitor WASH field activities at all
assigned sites in accordance with approved BoQs, technical specifications,
drawings, and agreed work plans and timelines, and coordinate regularly
with the DRC WASH team
- Provide field-based technical support to Water
Management Committees (WMCs) and Community Hygiene Volunteers (CHVs) on
water supply, sanitation, and hygiene-related activities.
- Support the preparation of BoQs, drawings, and
technical documents for WASH construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance
activities.
- Assist in identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing WASH
needs at field level in line with DRC guidelines, national standards, and
WASH Cluster criteria.
- Ensure the collection, verification, and timely
reporting of accurate and up-to-date field data required for effective
WASH program implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Support the
organization and implementation of community-level sanitation and hygiene
promotion campaigns, and assist in the management and distribution of WASH
supplies and IEC materials.
- Prepare and submit regular weekly and monthly field
updates on WASH activities and coordinate closely with the line manager on
progress against approved work plans.
- Assist in the organization and implementation of WASH-related
events, trainings, orientations, and workshops at community, school,
health facility, and district levels.
- Coordinate, under the guidance of the WASH TL, with
relevant local authorities and institutions such as the Cleaning Fund,
LWSC, and GARWSP to ensure quality implementation of WASH interventions.
- Support the documentation of project achievements,
challenges, lessons learned, good practices, case studies, and field-level
progress reports related to WASH activities.
- Ensure that gender equity, protection principles, and
social inclusion are integrated into all WASH field activities.
- Carry out other WASH-related duties and other tasks
assigned by WASH Team Leader/ Manager.
Experience and
technical competencies:

Relevant technical background in civil engineering as site engineer
·
Minimum of two years of practical experience in field/site Engineer
works – related to water projects.
·
Experience in supporting the preparation and review of BoQs, technical
specifications, and work plans.
·
Good working knowledge of AutoCAD, EPANET, WaterCAD, and standard
Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
·
Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills, with the
ability to work effectively with communities, contractors, and project teams.
· Previous experience working with NGOs and or INGOs is an advantage.
Education:

University
degree in Civil Engineering
Languages:

Arabic "Mother tongue"

Position Band: This
position will be placed in the non-management (I) band. Reports to the WASH
Team Leader.

Salary and conditions will
be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s National Terms of Employment.
