About the role

Overall purpose of the role:

The purpose of this role is to support the MEAL activities and data collection/analysis activities within the MEAL team through a learning and hands-on experience approach. The intern will be trained on MEAL practices and data collection processes, and will gradually apply this knowledge to support ongoing activities. Through this practical exposure, the intern will contribute to maintaining continuity of work and help address operational gaps in data collection and field visits.

This non-managerial position operates under the overall supervision and technical support of the MEAL Team Leader. The intern will support the development and implementation of the DRC Yemen MEAL activities, with a focus on data collection/analysis and field visits to the target areas, as well as assisting in other MEAL activities such as verification, assessments, evaluations, and monitoring tasks as assigned by the line manager.

 

Main responsibilities:

·       Support in conducting the required field visits during the program team activities/distributions, ensuring comprehensive observation and collecting the required findings, and reflecting that into the ODMs/field visits report as well as doing the IPA distribution confirmation when required.

·       Support in doing the required data collection in both remote (by phone) and in-person (in the field) approaches, ensuring submission of high-quality data in addition to reflecting that into the assessment drafts if needed.

·       Supporting in data analysis using the required tools, such as Excel, as needed.

·       Supporting the accountability system in receiving complaints and feedback from beneficiaries during the field visits

·       Follow data protection protocols and steps. Implement protocols for data protection, storage, sharing, and security in the area of responsibility to ensure data is stored safely and confidentially.

·       Support in reviewing and translating the MEAL surveys/assessments.

·       Perform other duties as assigned by MEAL Team Leader. This may include supporting with MEAL activities such as verification, baseline/endline surveys, PDMs, PSMs, etc.

 

Experience and technical competencies:

·       No experience is required as the position is for the last three years graduated.

·       Fluency in English is highly recommended.

·       Ability to collect/analyse data and perform data quality steps, with strong attention to detail.

·       Skill in MS Word, Excel, and general data literacy.

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills (with a preference for strong facilitation and communications skills).

·       Demonstrated personal commitment to service provision or volunteering within their community.

·       Ability to follow and communicate instructions in relation to ethical principles, including accountability to affected populations principles.

·       Ability to discuss and follow priorities.

Education: (include certificates, licenses etc.)

·       Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Preference will be given to candidates with academic backgrounds in Engineering, Data/Information Management, Statistics, or other disciplines that provide strong analytical, data management, and problem-solving skills.

·       Fresh graduates -the last three years- are encouraged to apply.

Position Band:  This position will be placed in the non-management band. Reports to the MEAL Team Leader.

 Start date: ASAP

Duty station: Mocha/ Khokha -Yemen

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s National Terms of Employment.
