Job Description
For our Support in Yemen, we are looking for a Finance Assistant,
the position will be based in Sana’a.
Médecins du Monde (MdM) is an international

Reporting to: Finance Coordinator
Job Purpose
The Finance Assistant supports the daily financial
operations of Médecins du Monde in Yemen, ensuring accurate cash and bank
management, compliance with organizational procedures, and timely support to
program teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cash & Advances Management
- Handle
petty cash, including payments validated by the Finance Coordinator.
- Conduct
regular cash inventories and prepare cash top-up requests.
- Manage
all types of advances and follow up on their liquidation.
Payments & Bookkeeping
- Act as
the first focal point for receiving payment requests from other
departments.
- Record
incoming claims in the accounting system.
- Maintain
accurate bookkeeping for cash and bank transactions.
- Deliver
cheques to beneficiaries and follow up on non-cashed cheques.
- Notify
the logistics team about ready cheques.
- Issue
and type validated bank correspondence, including cheques and transfer requests
(TRFs).
Documentation & Archiving
- Archive
accountancy files (unregistered, unpaid, and paid).
- Review
supporting documents for payment requests against the approved checklist,
ensuring completeness and quality.
- File
documents appropriately or return them to the relevant department if
incomplete.
- Archive
copies after sending documents to HQ.
- Prepare
original documents for submission to HQ under the supervision of the
Finance Officer.
Other Duties
- Perform
additional tasks as requested by the line manager.
PROFILE REQUIRED
Skills required:
- Degree
or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum
1–2 years of experience in finance or administration, preferably with
NGOs.
- Strong
knowledge of Excel and accounting systems.
- Attention
to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability
to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good
communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Commitment
to humanitarian principles and Médecins du Monde’s mission.
Personal skills required:
- Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills.
- Team
player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well.
- Demonstrate
leadership, ownership and initiative.
- Be
committed to MdM’s values as an organization and motivated by its

- Demonstrate
